Located in Long Bay, Makumaku Residence was designed for a young family seeking a home that felt contemporary, comfortable and connected to its coastal setting.

The architecture establishes a strong geometric framework, with a series of angled forms shaping both the exterior and interior spaces. In response, the interior design takes a softer approach, introducing warmer finishes, curved elements and a restrained palette to create a sense of warmth and ease throughout the home.

At the centre of the house, the kitchen and adjoining scullery form the main hub for daily life, connecting with the surrounding living and dining spaces. Material selections and detailing were used to soften the geometry of the architecture, creating a more relaxed and inviting interior environment.

The resulting spaces reflect the contrast between the home's strong architectural form and a softer, more lived-in interior approach, supporting the way the family lives and gathers within the home.
